"There is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats."

Composite Repairs and Painting

Blackline is an industry leader in complex structural repairs. Your boat will be returned to an "as new" condition after serious damage caused by:

  • Groundings
  • Collision
  • Fire
  • Deterioration (such as core rot)

Insurance Repairs

Blackline has 28 years experience in dealing with traumatic repair situations like groundings, collisions or fire. Our thorough approach ensures that we meet the needs of owners, surveyors and insurance underwriters.

We recommend that you always report damage to your insurance agent. In the event the incident was more severe than expected, you have made it far easier to open a claim, if required.

If you have experienced a mishap, we are always willing to help evaluate the severity, and recommend a course of action.

Extensions
Hull extensions can be immensely practical and, in many cases, more cost effective than the purchase of a new boat. Talk to us about your needs.

Blackline has set a high standard for yacht refinishing for over 25 years. Whether FRP (fiberglass), aluminum, steel or wood, we can fair and refinish to better than new. How do we achieve really great results?

  • Well trained technicians working with quality equipment
  • Heated and well ventilated shops
  • A commitment to doing it right

Blackline's paint system of choice is Awlgrip™. We work closely with Awlgrip™ representatives through special training seminars and job by job consultation to ensure your satisfaction.

All deck coatings have been removed and anti- corrosive primers applied. Epoxy fairing materials are being applied to surfaces.
After fairing, high build primers, and surface primers, multiple coats of Awlgrip™ polyurethane topcoats are sprayed. Here the smooth sections of the deck are sprayed and masking of the nonskid is underway. Hulls can be more challenging to paint than decks. When you look down the side of a hull there can be a number of deficiencies: bulkheads, shelves and stiffeners pressing on the surface, roving or reinforcement print-through, or mold and fairing problems. On light coloured hulls these can go unnoticed, especially if the hull has lost its gloss. If however the hull is a dark color, then these are usually very apparent. Getting rid of these problems requires refairing the sides of the hull, starting with longboards and a coarse grit sandpaper, followed with high-build epoxy primers. Although, occasionally some hulls require refairing with epoxy fillers as well. After the high-build is sanded fair, epoxy surfacing primers are sprayed on and sanded, followed by topcoating with 4-5 coats of polyurethane topcoats.
